RAF Lossiemouth vs. Kinross

RAF Lossiemouth 20 Kinross 28

A long trip up to Lossiemouth on Saturday saw Kinross gain another away victory.

Lossie started the brighter of the two teams early in the first half and their large forward pack made large inroads into Kinross territory. When the ball was released to the their backs the winger raced in to score in the corner. The try was converted (7-0). Kinross now started to play and after some good ball retention in the forwards, responded with a try of their own from Spence. It was fine individual try from Spence, bursting through several tackles to finish under the posts. Fraser Ross converted to square the match up (7-7). Penalties were then exchanged between the two sides (10-10).

Kinross's second try came from some good sustained forward play. From a good forward platform the ball was passed through the hands for Craig Purvis to score unchallenged in the corner. Ross again converted (10-17).

Minutes after the second try came the third. With RAF lossiemouth in possession, Ross Campbell was up fast on his opposite man and managed to win and secure the ball from the Lossie player. He then showed good pace to run the try in from a good 50 m out. The turnaround in the half was complete with Kinross going into the break with an decent lead (10-22).

With Kinross pressing to score a bonus point try, Lossiemouth launch there challenge to win the game firstly with a well struck penalty (13-22) then they scored a try midway through the second half. Good offloading out of tackles coupled with Kinross standing off tackles allowed the RAF men in for a try, which was also converted (20-22). The nerves were now setting in, but to their credit Kinross kept their heads and made the right decisions at the right times in the closing stages. In the latter stages of the game Kinross were awarded a couple of penalties directly in front of the posts. Both were converted by Spence (20 - 28). Kinoss managed to control the last few minutes of the game to secure a good victory.

A lot of credit goes to everyone concerned with a few players stepping into the breech last minute, the commitment could not be faulted. Thanks also to the supporters who travelled to Lossiemouth for the game.
