Kinross returned to league action following a 2 week break by hosting league leaders in what turned out to be a disastrous performance from the Kinross side, and the referee to boot.
With a last minute call off from winger Dave McKay there was a slight re-jig of the team which saw Dale Lamont brought off the bench to start at wing, a far cry from his usual second or back row home.

Saturday saw Kinross suffer another heavy defeat, this time at the hands of St Andrews Uni. There was a new partnership in the second row with Lamont and Smith replacing the injured Wood and Barnett, George Harley replaced Farmer at number 8 after Davy had twisted his knee playing squash earlier in the week. However, unconfirmed reports allege the injury was actually sustained when he saw an ice-cream van and a Tesco delivery van pass in the street and couldn’t decide which one to chase!

Kinross secured a try bonus in testing conditions at the KGV on Saturday. The rain and wind had all but confirmed to the small band of supporters that quality rugby would be off the menu and a Kinross knock-on from the kick-off left them instantly vindicated. Saturday also saw the Carragher brothers, Liam and Chris, starting together as the halfback partnership for the first time and proving once and for all that they are superior to the Fraser brothers in every way. There was also a token Wood in the side, Dunk proving that pace, flair and attacking nous are not pre-requisites for playing on the wing. click here for full match report

Kinross left Alloa on Saturday with only their third try-bonus of the season thanks to an impressive second half performance. The fashion police were out in force before the match and Ally Wood’s top was the subject of much scrutiny from the majority of the style challenged Kinross players.

Kinross put in a commendable performance against their National League One opponents in wet and windy Tillicoultry yesterday.
There was a surprise recall to the starting XV for injury-ravaged veteran No.8 Davy Farmer, in what is likely to be his swansong season. Blair Miles came in for his first game at full back whilst Spence moved into the scrum half position in the absence of both Carragher and Fraser. Jim Handyside had made it on to the bench and was itching for a game to make his mark on the 1st XV one last time before heading off to America.

A bus, a ferry, a cold hotel (for some) and unfortunately no points as Kinross made the epic journey to Orkney.
The outing began at 11 a.m. on Friday with surprisingly few latecomers and a pick-up in Milnathort for super-late Fraser Ross. The squad was short of backs and Ally “The Admiral” Wood had an inkling he was going to be called upon, however his nightmare did not become a reality until 11.15 the following morning.

The day started on a bad note for Barney, he was stood up by Granny Annie despite his persistent banging on the window which made him feel like a proper tool. This week Kinross travelled to Aberdeenshire after a week of rest with the aim of collecting the five points on offer to boost them up the table. Another make-shift team had been assembled and, with only one substitute available, this was clearly going to have an influence on the game.
18/11/06
The game started off on the wrong foot for the Kinross boys as Mackie made the early breakthrough after 3 minutes. The Kinross backs were caught offside and Mackie slotted over the penalty for a 0-3 lead.
Two penalties in 3minutes for Mackie being offside in the back line saw Kinross take a 6-3 lead after 15minutes but immediately from the restart Kinross were penalised when Bull pulled Mackie scrum-half into a ruck - Mackie struck the resulting penalty to bring the game level after 17minutes.

Kinross returned to action a week after their defeat to St Andrews Uni by hosting old arch rivals Crieff. Kinross hadn’t met Crieff in league action since they were the only team to win at the KGV in season 2004/05, the club historian informs the writer the score was a boring five points to three.

On the eve of Guy Fawkes Night it was Kinross who showed the early fireworks by taking the game to St Andrews. This was rewarded when Spenny rocketed over an early penalty, 3-0. Further good work from Kinross lead to another opportunity to score from a penalty, unfortunately Spence was unlucky enough to hit the post.
28/10/06
Stand in captain Iain Spence had assembled what can only be described as a makeshift team for this cup fixture. With many regular first team players absent this was a chance for a few fringe players to put forward their case for a starting place.

Saturday’s loss to Strathmore has seen Kinross’s title chances all but evaporate.
A lack of penetration coupled with an inability to secure the ball saw Kinross slump to one of their heaviest defeats in recent memory. Although Kinross had their fair share of possession the failure to record any points speaks volumes about our attacking prowess on the day.
14/10/06
Another narrow victory for Kinross but a much improved performance from the previous week.
Kinross went into this game knowing they would have to raise their game against a strong Alloa side who had suffered a narrow defeat to league leaders Strathmore the week before.

Kinross managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat against bottom of the league Panmure in Broughty Ferry on Saturday afternoon.
After an encouraging warm-up where everyone seemed sharp and focussed the team were buzzing come 3 p.m. Unfortunately the referee had still not turned up and by the time he had some of the intensity and focus had been lost.
23/09/06
Even with an 11:30am kick-off Kinross were able to put in a convincing performance against their well-travelled opponents. The game was a hard fought affair with Kinross having the lion's share of the forward play, driving mauls were key to our success on the day. In the first half Orkneys back line managed to get two well-worked tries although some of the Kinross tackling left a lot to be desired in both these instances.

A long trip up to Lossiemouth on Saturday saw Kinross gain another away victory.
Lossie started the brighter of the two teams early in the first half and their large forward pack made large inroads into Kinross territory. When the ball was released to the their backs the winger raced in to score in the corner. The try was converted (7-0). Kinross now started to play and after some good ball retention in the forwards, responded with a try of their own from Spence.

Kinross lost their first home game of the season against a robust Aberdeenshire side. Prior to the game, in true schoolboy fashion, someone even commented ‘they’re big’. 14-31 was the final score with tries from Ian Barnett and Ross Campbell. Ross also won man of the match – apparently this was only because nobody could stand the thought of Fraz winning it two weeks in a row! Elton Prince rolled back the years to produce a highly aggressive and effective display, obviously buoyed by the fact that Wee Mo was over her recent bout of vertigo.

In the first away league match of the season Kinross scraped a win in Stonehaven.
After 15 minutes of the match Kinross were already fielding two of their substitutes due to injuries to Davie Farmer and Kinross High PE teacher Dave Mackay whose Kinross debut lasted all of 4 minutes – did anybody hear that scream!? George Harley came on to replace Farmer at number eight whilst utility man Ally Wood made his first appearance on the wing.
